Exporting to USA Seminar

Sault Ste. Marie, ON (March 14, 2017) – To help local firms sell their products and services to U.S. markets, Invest Sault Ste. Marie, the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation (SSMEDC), Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce (SSMCOC) and Ontario Ministry of International Trade are hosting a one-day seminar March 21st, from 8:30-3:30PM.

The Exporting to The USA seminar is targeted at local companies that are new to exporting as well as those that already export products and services, but would benefit from learning best practices, new information on U.S. Customs & Border Protection requirements, and insights on the future of NAFTA.

The full-day event which includes breakfast and lunch, features speakers from seven different agencies including U.S. Customs & Border Protection, Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Trade Commissioner Service, Export Development Canada, BDO Canada, FedNor and the Ontario Ministry of International Trade.

“The United States is Canada’s number one trading partner, and being situated on the international border can give Sault Ste. Marie companies an advantage,” said John Febbraro, Director of Business Development with SSMEDC. “Many more of our local companies should be looking at exporting as an opportunity to grow and expand into other markets.”

A panel discussion of local exporting companies will also take place that includes Evolution Deck, Tenaris Algoma Tubes, Arauco North America and SIS Manufacturing. Attendees will hear first-hand about some of the challenges, growth and opportunities each company has experienced through exporting. Attendees will be able to ask questions during the panel discussion.

“Exporting is critical to building a resilient business and local economy,” states Rory Ring, CEO of SSMCOC. “Exporting brings in new money from outside the local market and builds better local economies that are diversified and strong enough to weather tough times. Chamber of Commerce members can also access Chamber export programs such as the Early Stage Exporters or the Export Market Access, a Global Expansion Program.”
